About Open Think
Founded in 2023 by myself, Anna Marquez, Open Think Learning serves clients in the Portland, OR Metro region by delivering academic and cognitive skill-based interventions to allow students to succeed and thrive at optimal levels. Our primary focus is on school age students, and the interventions we offer have been proven highly successful in supporting struggling readers in particular.
As a veteran educator in Portland, with an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction, I bring a high level of expertise and knowledge to the area of learning I support. In my 16 years working as a Spanish Immersion classroom teacher, Behavior Coach, and Instructional Specialist, I was always looking for ways to support our Neurodivergent learners. I found many students were in need of support due to weak Executive Functioning skills which impacted their ability to achieve academically, as well as to feel successful both socially and behaviorally.
When my own daughter began to struggle academically, I started a deep dive into supports for her that were targeted and specific. This then led me to form Open Think Learning, using research-based methodology that supports the unique needs of each client.
I am trained in a number of intervention programs that allow me to tailor support to a wide variety of needs. I am trained and licensed in several cognitive skills training programs as well as highly effective reading interventions to support struggling readers. I work carefully with our amazing Learning Coach, Latisha Jensen, who is also highly skilled and able to support a variety of student needs.
I am also a member of the Association of Educational Therapists and am completing a certificate in Educational Therapy from the University of California Santa Cruz.
