About Open Think

Founded in 2023 by myself, Anna Marquez, Open Think Learning serves clients in the Portland, OR Metro region by delivering academic and cognitive skill-based interventions to allow students to succeed and thrive at optimal levels. Our primary focus is on school age students, and the interventions we offer have been proven highly successful in supporting struggling readers in particular.

As a veteran educator in Portland, with an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, I bring a high level of expertise and knowledge to the areas of learning I support.  In my 16 years working as a Spanish Immersion classroom teacher, Behavior Coach, and Instructional Specialist, I was always looking for ways to support our Neurodivergent learners. I found many students were in need of support due to weak Executive Functioning skills which impacted their ability to achieve academically, as well as to feel successful both socially and behaviorally.

When I realized my own child was struggling with reading, I started a deep dive into supports for her that were targeted and specific. This then led me to form Open Think Learning, using evidence-based methodologies that support the unique needs of each student. I meet students where they’re at and provide a safe, flexible environment to fluidly adapt to students’ changing needs.

I am trained in a number of intervention programs that allow me to tailor support to a wide variety of needs. I am trained and licensed in several cognitive skills training programs as well as highly effective, evidence-based reading interventions and instructional practices that combine a variety of learning modalities to support dyslexic students to achieve success and the best possible outcomes as learners. I use a structured literacy approach which is recognized by the International Dyslexia Association as the most effective way to support struggling readers. I am also bilingual and support many students to learn to read in Spanish. Supporting students in Spanish, whether it’s their first or second language, is one of my greatest joys. It’s so rewarding to help students access a language I love!

I am also a member of the Association of Educational Therapists and the International Dyslexia Association.
